A suspect was killed after shooting at Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies the afternoon of Aug. 31, the sheriff’s office reported on Twitter.
No deputies were injured, DCSO said in its first Twitter post on the incident at 4:34 p.m.
During a traffic stop at Delva Way and US Highway 85 in Sedalia, the suspect opened fire on deputies, according to another DCSO Twitter post about an hour later. Deputies returned fire, killing the suspect.
The highway remained closed in the area for hours after the shooting amid an investigation. It reopened shortly after 8 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect was not immediately identified and no motive for the suspect’s actions or reason for the traffic stop had been given by DCSO as of early morning Sept. 1.
