The Douglas County Sheriff's Office took a suspect into custody Oct. 13 in connection with the homicide of 24-year-old Shelby Weatherly, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. Weatherly's body was found on the side of Interstate 25 near the Greenland Exit south of Larkspur on Sept. 30.

Mihail Petrov, 37, was arrested in Denver and has been booked into the Douglas County jail on charges of accessory to a crime/murder in the first degree, tampering with physical evidence and concealing a death, the release says. He is being held on $500,000 bond.

The sheriff's office asks anyone who has information about Petrov or information about the investigation to call the DCSO Tipline at (303)660-7579. Denver Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward. Tips can be reported to Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 720-913-STOP.

“We take crimes like these very seriously and investigate with utmost urgency,” Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said in the news release. “We will continue to work very hard on this case until we get justice for Shelby and her family.”
