Castle Pines taking council applications

Candidate will fill District 3 seat vacated by Engerman

Posted

Now that Castle Pines District 3 City Councilmember Tracy Engerman has been elected mayor, her seat will need to be filled.

Engerman, who still had two years remaining on her District 3 term, will be sworn in as mayor, leaving the city in search of someone to fill her seat. Engerman beat incumbent Mayor Tera Radloff in the Nov. 2 election.

Instead of holding a special election, on Nov. 16 the city posted a notice for interested District 3 residents to consider applying for the position to finish Engerman’s term.

In the notice, the city said the council will start interviewing interested applicants in January to fill the vacant seat.

Not just anyone can apply for the position. To apply, interested residents must meet the following criteria:

The candidate must be a registered elector (voter) of the City of Castle Pines in District 3.

The candidate must have lived in City of Castle Pines for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment.

The candidate must maintain their primary residence in District 3 in the City of Castle Pines throughout the term of office.

The candidate may not be an employee of the City of Castle Pines during their term of office.

The candidate may not hold any other elective position (whether elected or appointed) for a federal, state, county, or municipal governmental entity (including a new charter commission).

Interested candidates who meet the required criteria have until Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. to submit an application.

An application can be found at bit.ly/3npcLpC.
