Does your front yard suck? Water, that is. Typically, more than half of household water use goes toward outdoor irrigation and landscape. Castle Rock Water is now encouraging residents to transform their lawn to a water-wise ColoradoScape. Enter to win a free front yard ColoradoScape makeover worth $8,000.

Kentucky bluegrass is not native to Castle Rock's high elevation and arid environment. In fact, the community pours more than 1.3 billion gallons of water on yards each summer. While having a healthy yard is important, exploring the colors beyond the green of grass is what Colorado is all about.

Are you ready to make the transition? Enter to win a front yard makeover by posting a short video on social media (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter) about why your lawn sucks. The more creative, the better. Be sure to set your privacy settings to public, and tag “Town of Castle Rock Government” or @CRgov.

Video entries will be accepted until and Aug. 15. Five finalists will be chosen. Then, the community will vote for its favorite on the town's social media pages. The winner will be notified via their social media account in September.

All entrants must be a Castle Rock Water residential customer and at least 18 years of age or older. For more information, contest rules and to see previous winners, visit CRconserve.com/Contest.
