In celebration of the Denver Nuggets appearance in the Western Conference finals, Rocky visited patients at UCHealth Highlands Ranch and shared newly filmed virtual reality content with one lucky patient. 

To help improve patients' experience while staying at the hospital or receiving treatment, UCHealth launched a virtual reality program in 2018 to allow patients to take their minds away from reality and immerse themselves in another experience. 

Since the program launched, UCHealth has provided more than 15,000 experiences for patients, according to a press release. 

These experiences include going to a beach or sitting in a deer stand. Recently, UCHealth partnered up with the Denver Nuggets to film what it is like to be Rocky at a Nuggets game. 

During his chemotherapy treatment, Benjamin Peter was the first to experience the Super Rocky Experience. 

Peter was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in late 2016, had surgery in 2017 and has been receiving treatment on and off since then. 

Treatment hasn’t stopped Peter from traveling as he has gone to Hawaii and India.

Nurses and staff know that Peter is a fan of the Denver Nuggets as it is a common topic of conversation. 

Kate Sanfilippo, manager of experience and innovation at UCHealth placed the virtual reality headset on Peter. For seven minutes, Peter got to look around Ball Arena from the court and follow Rocky up into the stands while he interacted with fans. In the immersive world, Peter was able to stand in the middle of the court with Rocky and experience what it is like to be in the middle of all the action during a game. 

“You feel like you are sitting with them,” said Peter. “It was just like being there.”

While Peter had the headset on and headphones in, Rocky snuck in. When the virtual reality headset came off, he was surprised. 

Along with the surprise, Rocky gave Peter a signed  Nikola Jokić jersey, a hat and autographed a photo for him. 

“This was the best surprise,” said Peter.
