Early pumpkin purchasers peruse the patch

One family decided to get out early this year

As fall settles in Highlands Ranch, pumpkin patches have begun popping up in the community, and early shoppers are stopping by.

At St. Luke’s United Methodist Church on South Broadway, one family picked out multiple pumpkins for the season last week. While it’s still somewhat early in the month for shoppers, the Hiatts decided to get out ahead of the tradition this year. The patch at St. Luke’s had a solid selection and variety of options, Katie Hiatt said.

“We went super late last year,” Katie Hiatt said. “We went to a picking farm last year and there was not as great of a selection.”

Katie’s kids, Willa, 4 and Elliot, 1, ran up and down the patch picking out pumpkins for themselves, the whole family and their dad.

“Can we get just one more?” Willa asked her mom.
