Keep our county great

When we vote, we make a statement about what principles we want guiding our community. While each candidate has their own priorities, there are general truths about Republican and Democrat principles and the different visions each have for government’s role in our lives. Republican principles recognize government’s role in providing important services like infrastructure, public safety, and education, but believe that we should decide how to live our lives. Democrat principles want government to expand further into our lives—believing government knows best what’s right for us. But when government expands, the individual shrinks.

For decades now, we in Douglas County have chosen those Republican principles — a responsible and limited government, freedom of choice and respect for law enforcement. These principles translate into low taxes, a thriving economy and a safe community. And the quality-of-life this creates is the main reason why Douglas County is nationally recognized as one of the best counties in the country!

Yet Democrats are funneling large amounts of money into Douglas County to try to change our guiding principles. They currently dominate our state government and control multiple counties near us but want to continue their government expansion into our community. With this comes higher taxes, more burdensome regulations and less personal choice.

Do we want to become more like Denver and other surrounding counties or do we want to preserve and improve what makes Douglas County great? Let’s continue choosing the Republican principles that are at the heart of our great county.
