The twin forces of technology and globalization are upending everything. How will schools manage this new dynamic? In this full-day, comprehensive, hands-on seminar, Scott McLeod, J.D., Ph.D., will discuss six relevance gaps between schools and society including information literacy, new forms of learning, engagement, economic, innovation and equity. We will follow this highlighting the four big shifts that deeper learning schools are making (cognitive complexity, student agency, authentic work and technology infusion) as well as the 10 building blocks they are implementing to design future-ready learning experiences for students.
During this seminar, we will also discuss the societal impacts of digital, online and mobile technologies; workforce preparation concerns related to offshoring, outsourcing, robots and software automation; multimedia, transmedia and the digital literacy of our educators and graduates; and our own readiness to become a future-ready school organization.
This workshop is open to superintendents, principals, school board members and any other education leaders. Participants should bring a laptop, Chromebook, or tablet computer and charging cord.
