September a big month for new library members

Posted

It may be the end of September, but the month is National Library Card Sign-up Month, and library lovers can show their support for the Pines & Plains Libraries branches in Elbert, Elizabeth, Kiowa and Simla and get a new card in return.

Libraries play an important role in meeting residents’ informational, educational, recreational and social needs. Library patrons can read the local news, surf the internet, find employment resources, learn how to use computers and take home music, movies and books with a free card.

That little piece of plastic also provides access to more than 45,000 eBooks and audiobooks.

To celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month, visit any of the Pines & Plains branch libraries and show your card or apply for a new one. You can choose from four designs for your new card: Bijou Basin, Owl, Baby Yoda or Peanuts.

From Sept. 27-30, sign up to be entered in a district-wide drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card.
