Seedings and pairings were announced Nov. 15 for the first round of the Colorado high school football playoffs, with the games scheduled to be played between Nov. 19-21.

Defending state champion Cherry Creek (6-0) is top seeded in the Class 5A bracket and will host Regis Jesuit (5-1) in a first-round game. Valor Christian (5-0) is the second seed and will open with a game against Cherokee Trail (4-2).

Legend (6-0) is the third seed and will face the high-powered offense of Fairview (6-0) in the first round. Eaglecrest (4-1) will battle Pomona (6-0) to start the playoffs. Only eight teams make the playoffs this season because of COVID-19 concerns.

Brackets and seedings were determined by the CHSAA Seeding Index, which combined RPI ratings, the CHSAANow.com coaches poll, MaxPreps rankings and the Packard ratings.

In Class 4A, Ponderosa (6-0) will challenge Fountain Fort Carson (5-1) in a first-round encounter. Lutheran (4-1) drew a No. 6 seed in the 3A bracket and will travel to Durango (5-0) for a first-round game.

It was announced earlier that all seven classifications will hold their state championship games on Dec. 3, 4 and 5 at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl in Pueblo.

The 6-man and 8-man title games will be on Dec. 3, with the Class 2A and 4A games set for Dec. 4. The 1A, 3A and 5A championship games will be Dec. 5, with the 5A game set to start at 6 p.m.

COVID-19 safety measures will be followed and 1,400 fans for each game will be allowed to watch.
