What makes you the best choice for this office?
Parker residents have a common goal: live in a community that supports their values and provides balanced growth. Over 18 years, I built two businesses, raised a family and continue to be extremely involved in the leadership of Parker's business community. As vice chair of the Downtown Business Alliance, I have been a voice for business owners and residents. I negotiate for a living, and one of my strengths is the ability to be flexible, see both sides of an issue, find common ground and close transactions. This will help me be an effective and strong leader for Parker.
If you're elected, what is one single issue that will be at the top of your agenda?
I do not believe a candidate should have one agenda, but if I have to pick just one, it's improving Parker's current business environment. My campaign theme is “Keep it Local.” I will go to bat for local businesses. Local business, whether it is a franchise, big box, or Mom & Pop, it is intricately connected with the well-being of our community. Franchise owners are oftentimes local Parker residents. Big-box stores offer community support for schools, provide jobs for residents, as well as sales tax revenue. Homegrown business gives us that hometown feeling. We do not want to lose that.
If you're elected, what must you accomplish in order for you to consider your term a success?
Was I just and fair to all Parker residents and did I do what was best for this town not only today but, 5,10 and 20 years from now? That is how I will measure success.
In your view, what is (or should be) the role and responsibility of a Parker Town Council member?
Town council make policy decisions, approve budgets, enforce ordinances and direct the town administrator to carry it all out. This requires a person with the ability to see both sides of issues, weigh pros and cons, and provide sound judgment on decisions to ensure it benefits all Parker residents.
Why are you seeking this office?
I believe anyone seeking public office should be a longstanding member of the community, understand desires of local business, and have a track record of community involvement. I am at a place in my life where I am able to give back to the community that helped me raise a family and supported my business endeavors. It would be an honor and a privilege to serve the Parker community as one of the newest town councilmembers.
