City or town of residence and how long lived there: Castle Pines, three years
Profession: Equine veterinarian
Related elected-office or public-service experience: First-time candidate
Why are you seeking this office?
I became frustrated with the continued polarization of our political landscape. We are forced to choose between dogmatic agendas without enough pragmatic solutions. I will bring thoughtful, independent consideration to each bill I vote on, not the continued advancement of a hyper-partisan, wrong-headed agenda.
What makes you the most qualified person for the position?
As a veterinarian, I have a history of absorbing large volumes of detailed information, in a short time frame, on a wide variety of topics — and then making tough choices based on that knowledge.
Every day, I practice compassion, patience, and critical thinking — characteristics we need more of at the statehouse and this district. I have a proven track record of building consensus in each of the leadership roles I have held. Among the three candidates still in the race, I believe my values are shared with the broadest swath of citizens in this district.
What would your top two priorities be if elected?
Unlike my opponent, I support law enforcement and have committed to re-introducing the Zackari Parrish Violence Prevention Act, a bipartisan bill championed by our very own Sheriff Spurlock, a Republican. Unfortunately, gun lobby darlings voted it down in Senate committee after passing the House. We must find ways to stem gun violence and most Coloradans agreed that this bill was a positive step in that direction.
Additionally, I will work to ensure our tax dollars are spent efficiently and reflect Colorado values, including bolstering education, preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us and promoting opportunity for all citizens.
What else should the voters know about you?
I commit to holding town halls monthly when the General Assembly is in session, and quarterly thereafter. It is crucial that I meet with and understand the concerns of my constituents in order to truly represent them. Our current representative has not held an open forum since his election.
